First of all – greetings to you all – with a hope that you have had a blessed Easter.

Today, when this letter is sent/published it is the Ascension day, marking the end of Easter time and this year – when the Julian and the Gregorian calendar - we have been able to celebrate together with the entire Christian family.

In IPCA Europe we have had a General Assembly (GA), where important decisions were made. We have announced this meeting and why we needed to have it many times, but here comes the outcome of the meeting. It was decided that we shall change our constitution, so that we were able to move forward to become a proper organisation, based in France. Our treasurer together with the president of IPCA have made a very good job to find a solution. By making the changes that we did on the GA, the steering committee will now be able to formalize it in June. Being a proper organisation, means that we will have to have an annual GA-meeting, either online or in person/hybrid. This will be a meeting for those who are registered as members. This will from now on be a process where one applies to become a member, and the steering committee will make the decision. If you are a serving prison chaplain based in Europe or the Middle East, you will of course be accepted. You send your e-mail to ipcaeuropevicechair@gmail.com

The other decision made at the GA, was to formally change our name to “Europe and Middle East”. This has to do with the fact that Christians in the Middle East are closer to Europe than the Asian Christianity. Mostly considering many are Orthodox. At the moment we don´t have any members from the Middle East region, but this change had to be made before the formalization of the organisation in France.

Information du comité directeur

Tout d’abord, salutations fraternelles à vous tous en espérant que vous avez eu une fête de Pâques bénie.

Aujourd’hui, cette lettre sera publiée/diffusée pour la fête de l’Ascension, marquant la fin du temps de Pâques que cette année nous avons pu célébrer ensemble avec toutes les églises chrétiennes grâce à concordance des calendriers julien et grégorien.

Concernant IPCA Europe, nous avons eu une assemblée générale au cours de laquelle des décisions importantes ont été prises. Nous avions annoncé cette assemblée générale et les raisons pour lesquelles nous devions la faire mais maintenant voici les résultats:

Il a été décidé que nous devions changer notre constitution afin de devenir une organisation avec une existence légale basée en France. Notre trésorier dans un travail commun avec le président d’IPCA ont fait un très bon travail pour trouver la solution. Grâce aux changements votés lors de l’assemblée générale, le comité directeur pourra mettre en place en juin les statuts. La nouvelle organisation impliquera une assemblée générale annuelle soit en ligne soit en présentiel. Pourront participer à l’assemblée tous ceux qui sont enregistrés comme membres. Désormais, les demandes d’inscription devront être approuvées par le comité directeur. Si vous êtes un aumonier de prison basé en Europe ou au Moyen-Orient, vous serez évidemment acceptés.Envoyez votre demande à: ipcaeuropevicechair@gmail.com

L’autre décision lors de l’assemblée générale a été de changer notre nom en “Europe et Moyen Orient “.

En effet les chrétiens du Moyen Orient sont plus proches de l’Europe que des chrétientés asiatiques. De plus la majorité d’entre eux sont de confession orthodoxe. Actuellement nous n’avons pas de membres moyen orientaux mais ce changement devait être fait avant la légalisation de notre organisation en France.
